Welcome!
I am currently a Circuit Court Judge assigned to the Chancery Division located in the Richard J. Daley Center.
It has been my privilege to serve the public as a judge for the past 14 years. During this time, I have had the opportunity
to preside over various and numerous assignments ranging from traffic matters to complex civil cases.
Throughout my judicial career I have been guided by the words of the Greek philosopher, Socrates, who said, “Four things belong to a judge:
to hear courteously, to answer wisely, to consider soberly and to decide impartially.” Rendering a fair and just decision based on the law and the facts is an essential requirement of the position I hold, and one to which the public is entitled to receive when a litigant appears in court. Equally important is my personal commitment to serve with integrity, diligence and with compassion. These principles along with my passion for the law are what I will bring to the Appellate Court.
I also believe in serving the public off the bench. That is why, throughout my legal career, I have been committed to being involved in programs and endeavors which benefit the community outside the courtroom. As a public servant I believe I have an obligation to assist the young people in our communities, senior citizens and those who have served our country, to name a few.
It is an honor and privilege to serve the people of Cook County and I look forward to continuing to do so as a judge on the Illinois Appellate Court. Therefore, I ask for your support in the March 20, 2012 primary election for my candidacy for the Illinois Appellate Court (Sheila O’Brien vacancy).
Thank You,
Jesse G. Reyes
